Private 267998, Ernest REED, 1st Hertfordshire Regiment who was killed in action, 5 October 1917, aged 32, He was the son of John and Elizabeth of Chipping Sodbury and husband of Eva nee Lewis of Thornbury, Gloucestershire whom he married in 1909

At rest somewhere in France. He is commemorated on his parents' memorial in Chipping Sodbury Cemetery, Gloucestershire. The CWGC list him as buried in Belgian Battery Corner Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium (see his Short Service Record notes)

Notes from his Short Service Records
He attested on the 3rd December 1915 at Bristol and gave his home address as 9, Westminster Road, Whitehall, Bristol where he lived with his wife Eva who he married on the 22nd September 1909 at Tytherington Baptist Chapel near Thornbury, Gloucestershire, his occupation was given as a Bread Delivery man. He had his medical on the 3rd December 1915 at the Colston Hall, Bristol City. He served in France from the 2nd January 1917 and was killed in action in France on the 5th October 1917. (No mention of him having served or killed in Belgium) He was awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal. His wife remarried to a Mr Richings and in 1919 she was residing at Rose Villa, Draycott, Cam, near Dursley, Gloucestershire
