Ernest John Luckham ELLIOTT. Chief Engine Room Artificer 165380, Royal Navy on HMS Aboukir. Born 31st May 1869 at Morice Town, Devonport, to William and Jemima nee Luckham. In 1881 he was living with his parents at 8 Boscawen Place, Stoke Demerel, Devonport, 1891 living with his widowed mother at 42 Charlotte Street, Devonport, occupation aged 21, coppersmith. He enlisted 1st April 1892, occupation prior to enlistment, coppersmith. His birth names was Ernest John Luckham Elliott. On the 20th December 1892 at Cornwall he married Lilian Maud Mitchell. Killed whilst in the performance of his duty, shortly after leaving Arangi Bay for Malta on the 6th June 1907 aged 38 from multiple injuries during a full speed trial. He was struck by a crank and carried down into the bottom of the crank pit. His widow was informed of his death 7th June 1907. At rest in Plot B Grave 145, Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta.
