WEBLEY, Ernest Harry. Private 266843, 1/7th Royal Warwickshire Regiment died of wounds on the 17th December 1917 aged 28. He was the son of Mrs Joyce Webley of 191 Leam Terrace, Leamington Spa. He is at rest in Whitnash Road, Cemetery, Leamington, Warwickshire.
Some notes from what remains of his army record. He enlisted on the 11th December 1915 ahed was posted to the army reserve. He was aged 26 and 8 months, a dairyman by occupation and he lived with his parents at 191 Leam Terrace. On the 14th March 1916 he was mobilised and posted to the 7th Royal Warwickshire Regiment. After he had completed his training he was posted to France on the 1st September 1917. On the 10th August 1917 he was shot and severely wounded in the back. He was invalided back to England and admitted to the 5th Southern General Hospital, Portsmouth where he died of meningitis as the result of his wound.
