This memorial is at the house where he lived prior to his death on the 14th February 1966. He was buried with a full military guard of honour at St Peter's Churchyard, Forsbrook, Staffordshire

Information from his army pension record
Sergeant 71130, 3rd Sherwood Foresters [Nott & Derby Regt] Prior to enlistment he ward as a miner for the Florence and Iron Company Staffs. He served in England 28th November 1915 to 16th October 1916. France & Belgium 19th October 1916 to 20th [remainder burnt]He suffered lung damage due to being gassed 21st March 1918 and was a patient in the War Hospital, Sunderland 19th February 1919 to 24th April 1919 as was discharged from service as an ivalid 25th April 1919 to his home 105 Chapel View, Blythe Bridge
