Eric TULIP. Volunteer, Home Guard, 6th Gloucestershire Regiment died 27th February 1941 aged 28 at Parnall Aircraft Factory, Yate, on the first day, of a nine day enemy bombing raid on the factory in which fifty for people were killed. Son of Alfred and Gertrude Tulip, nee Winterbottom, husband of Margery Ivy Tulip, nee Pearce, of Ashton Gate, Bristol. He was born on the 26th September 1912, and baptised on the 25th November 1912 at St, Petersburg, Russia. At rest in St Andrew's Churchyard, Cromhall, Gloucestershire.

He served as Sergeant 13783, Irish Guards, formerly Machine Gun Corps. He enlisted on the 29th April 1918 aged 37 and 3 months and posted to the Guards Depot, Catherham, Surrey, occupation, photographer. He lived with his wife , Gertrude, who was next of kin at South Drive, St Annes on Sea, Lancashire. On the 1st June 1918 while at the Guards Depot he was transferred to the 5th Reserve Guards Machine Gun Corps, still at the depot, he was transferred to the 3rd Reserve Irish Guards on the 29th August 1918. While at Warley Barracks he was promoted to sergeant. On the 20th September 1918 he embarked from Dundee for North Russia, disembarking in North Russia on the 1st October 1918. His records show a word, interpreter. He was posted back to the U.K. on steamship Hibernian Castle on the 1st September 1919 and discharged to Class Z Army Reserve on the 6th October 1919.

He was aged 30, occupation, photographic artist, and was living at Nevsky Prospect, St Petersburg, father Mathew . Gertrude was aged 29 and she lived at Schlusnelburg Road, St Peterburg, daughter of Thomas Ellis Winterbottom
