Elsie Maud DAWKINS, nee Potter. Wife of Corporal17498 Thomas James Dawkins, Royal Marines died 22nd March 1927 aged 33. Erected by her husband, brothers and sisters. Native of Hungerford, Berkshire. They were married in 1923 in the registration district of Southampton.

At rest in Ta Braxia Cemetery, Malta.

Thomas James DAWKINS, 17498, born 23rd April 1896, in Colbury, Southampton, the son of Mary and Thomas Dawkins, a Blacksmith. He enlisted in the Royal Marines on 17th August 1914, and made the Marines his career. He served on many ships with short spells ashore, and left the Corps in August 1935. With the outbreak of World War Two he was mobilised in August 1939 and served until September 1945. During his first period in the Marines he was promoted to Corporal in November 1925 whilst serving at HMS Egmont in Malta, and made a Sergeant in 1940. He married Elsie Maud Potter on 31st March 1923 in Southampton.
