Private 203189 Leonard ELL 2/5th Sherwood Foresters, formerly 29953, Bedfordshire Regiment. He was wounded in action on the 26th September 1917. Gunshot shot wound to his abdomen and he died of his wounds on the 28th September a No 4, Casualty Clearing Station, Lozinghem, Belgium. He is at rest in Dozinghem Military Cemetery, Belgium.

He joined up on the 5th June 1916 aged 18 years and 6 months. he lived with his aprents at 13, Spone End, Coventry, Warwickshire and was by occupation a brickmaker. He was posted as private 29953 Bedfordshire Regiment. At a later date he was transferred to the Sherwood Foresters as private 203189. On the 26th February 1917 he embarked Folkstone for the British Expeditionary Force. On the 26th September 1917 he was wounded in action, he was shot in the abdomen. He was treated in 2/2nd North Midland Field Ambulance, the next day admitted to 4th Casualty Clearing Station and died of his wounds still at No4 Casualty Clearing Station, Lozinghem. He was the son of Albert George and Minnie Jane, nee Dadley. This poppy cross memorial was at the time of this photo at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire.
