JONES Edwin. Private 4380 4th British West Indies Regiment, formerly 3343, same regiment, died 28th July 1916 at Malta. Son of Mary Marion White, who was granted a war gratuity on the 13th January 1917.

STREAKE William Leonard. Private, M2/035095, 597th M.T. Coy., Royal Army Service Corps. Died of enterica, 26th July 1916, aged 23 years at St Andrews Hospital, Malta. Son of Emma Amelia and the late William Streake, of 7 Castle Street, Wouldham, Rochester. There is a link, death cannot sever. Love and remembrance live for ever.
Some notes from what remains of his army records.
He joined up at Bulford Depot, Salisbury, Wiltshire as Private 331. Army Service Corps, his army number was later changed to 035095. He was aged 22 years and 9 months and lived at 14 Manchester Road, Reading. His occupation prior to enlistment was an electric car driver. His next of kin was his mother Emma Amelia. On the 7th November 1915 he embarked Devonport on ship, Anchises and disembarked at Alexandria on the 20th November 1915. On the 15th January 1916 he embarked Alexandria of ship, Lake Michigan disembarked at Salonika with 597 M.T.Company Army Service Corps on the 20th January 1916. He fell ill with dysentery and was admitted into 5th Canadian General Hospital, Salonika. He was later invalided to Malta and was admitted into St Andrew's Hospital, Malta with dysentery on the 22nd June 1916 and died at 7-40pm on the 26th July 1916 on the 34th day of illness, aged given 24. Cause of death was recorded as enterica.
His mother was then living at 7 Castle Street, Wouldham.

WOODMASS Stewart. Private,M2/1638, 1st Garrison Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. Died 23rd July 1916 at St Georges Military Hospital, Malta. His widow Mary Frances, (nee Jobson) (now Mills) was granted a war gratuity on the 17th November 1916, revised on the 15th December 1919.
