Edward DRAPER. Stoker 1st Class 291927, Royal Navy on HMS London. Born 2nd January 1877 at Parbold, Lancashire to Edward and Elizabeth Jane of (1881 census), Court 3, Number 1, Black Diamond Street, Liverpool, Lancashire. Enlisted 27th April 1899, occupation prior to enlistment, labourer. Died 14th October 1906 aged 30 by drowning whilst on shore leave. Court of inquiry held 18th October 1906 found that Draper met with his death by accidental drowning on or near 14th October 1906 and that having been left drunk on the jetty by his shipmates under the care of the Dockyard Constable it is surmised that in a dazed condition he walked over the edge of the wharf into the water. Blame was attributable to Walts H Beaumont, Stoker Petty Officer and James Taylor Stoker 1st Class of HMS London who left him in charge of the Constable instead of bringing him on board. His father was informed of his death on the 17th October 1906. At rest in Plot B Grave 132, Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta. (Right Unmarked burial)
