Edmund George PEPPERRELL Lance Corporal 68901, 11th Royal Welch Fusiliers, formerly 4260 Army Service Corps. Died 30 September 1918. Born 1883 at Islington London and enlisted at St Paul's Churchyard, London. Son of Edmund Matthias and Louisa Matlida Pepperrell nee Harris and husband of Annie Alice nee Rodwell, who he married 19 April 1908 at St Simons Church, Bethnal Green London. In 1901 he was residing with his parents and siblings at 21 Durrington Road, Hackney, London, occupation warehouse messenger. 1911 residing with wife and two children, Edmund Robert 2 years and Alice A 2 months at 41 Warle Street, Bethnal Green, London, occupation aged 28, warehouseman. In 1913 William E Pepperrell was born. 7 April 1919 his wife was granted a war gratuity. At rest in Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta.

His son was killed in WW2
Edmund Robert Pepperell Gunner, 409 Battery, 123 (6th Battalion, The City of London Regiment, ) Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery. Born 15 March 1909 at Mile End, London , husband of Winifred Mary Bolton who he married 21 September 1935 at St Simon’s Church, Bethnal Green, London, died 25 July 1944 aged 35 in France. At rest in Hermanville War Cemetery, France. CWGC list Edward George, birth name Edmund George Pepperrell.

Annie Alice Pepperrell, nee Rodwell lost her husband and brother, William Alfred Rodwell in the Great War.

William Alfred RODWELL Private 51669, 7th East Yorkshire Regiment. Born 12 December 1887 and killed in action 20 October 1918 aged 30. Son of Robert George and Annie Rodwell nee Ferry. In 1891, aged 3 years he was residing with his parents and siblings, one being Annie Alice, at 117 Moody Street, Mile End, London. In 1901 he was a pupil at Highbury Truant School, Highbury Grove, Islington. aged 13. The 1911 census shows William A, aged 23 still residing with his parents and siblings at 41 Warley Street, Bethnal Green, occupation, dock labourer. His mother’s name was given as Alice A. At one time he resided at 8 Lessada Street Bethnal Green, London. His father was awarded a war gratuity 12 June 1919. At rest in Selridge British Cemetery, Montay, France.
