- Ed McMahon became a United States Marine Corp aviator during WWII and was assigned as an instructor pilot for the F4U Corsair. He received orders for the PTO, but the war ended before his arrival.
McMahon was recalled to service during the Korean War and flew a OE-1 as a spotter for the artillery and a FAC. He received six Air Medals and eventually retired from the reserves as a colonel.
