Donald Arthur Edward Peterson. Born 12 October 1916 at Chatswood New South Wales. Enlisted at Paddington, New South Wales 25 May 1940 as Private N73142, civilian occupation, cost clerk. He was posted No 1 Training Battalion. His mother Clara Evelyn Fraser was his next of kin, she resided at 78 Lurline Street, Katoomba New South Wales. His father was lost at sea in the World War 1. No record found to confirm this. He came up through the ranks, be promoted to Sergeant 13 November 1940. He was discharged from the army on the 12 February 1941 having enlisted in an Expeditionary Force raised for outside the Commonwealth. On the 13 February 1941 23 years and 7 months he enlisted at Paddington as Private NX682562 and posted into 2 Infantry Training Battalion, Australian Imperial Army. His mother who has re-married to Mr Fraser was still his next of kin. He resided at 20 Clifton Street, East Balmain, Sydney, New South Wales. 30 July 1941 he was posted to H.Q. 16 Australian Infantry Brigade, Australian Imperial Force. He embarked for overseas from Sydney 9 April 1941 on HMAT A206 disembarking at Ceylon 9 August 1942. Later, posted on the 2 November 1942 to New Guinea and left for Australia on the 11 February 1943. He again came up through the rank, be promoted to Sergeant 10 September 1942. On the 3 February 1944 he married Georgina Bryan she was residing at 1 Phyllis Drive, Thornleigh, New South Wales. He was discharged from the army 15 April 1944 being required for employment in essential occupation.
