Derek Frederick GALLOP. Signalman 23878742, Royal Corps of Signals died 16th April 1965 aged 18. He was the son of Harry William Charles and Agnes Monica nee Ellenger. On the 23 March 1946 his parents and siblings left Southampton bound for Kenya on ship Orontes. His siblings were called Mary Monica aged 4 and Anthony William George aged 3. Their address in England was 8 Olivers Battery, Winchester Hampshire, he was not yet born. His father's occupation was a farm engineer. On the 20th January 1949 the family arrived at Southampton from Mombasa Kenya on ship Dunmotty Castle. There were three additions to the family. Derek aged 3, Catherine aged 1 and Veronica aged 2 months all born in Kenya. The other two children also came back with them. His father's occupation was an engineer. He is at rest in Imtarfa Military Cemetery, Malta in Plot 17 Row 1 Grave 1
