Derek A Ferguson

Extended Description
Private 24456736 Derek A FERGUSON. Ex 8th UDR. He was shot and killed by the PIRA in a reprisal shooting at his mobile home, Aughaveagh Road, Coagh, County Tyrone on the 9th April 1991 aged 31. He had previously served a short period with the UDR.
On the 3rd March 1991 the UFV ambushed and shot dead some PIRA men outside Boyle's Bar in Cappagh. The men belonged to an Active Service Unit (ASU) based in Cappagh. Derek was a cousin of local MP Reverend William McCrea.

He is dedicated on a Tree Memorial Plaque at the UDR Memorial, Ulster Ash Grove, National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas Staffordshire.
