David TWOMEY. Born 1824 died of a burst blood vessel 18th May 1856, aged 32 years, Sailmaker's mate, on HMS Terrible. (Same gravestone as William H.Gawn)

Scenario prior to death -
Disease or hurt, haematemesis, aneurism of the aorta bursting into the oesophagus. Sent to Malta Hospital, 18 May 1856. Died, 18 May 1856. He had been treated for dyspepsia form 30 April to 16 May, the surgeon suspected stricture of the oesophagus. On 16 May he felt much better and went on shore on 17 May. The following morning, he drank a cup of coffee, which he promptly vomited and then vomited a large quantity of blood. He was sent to the Naval Hospital but died in about 15 minutes after being admitted. With a description of his body examined the day after his death.
