Memorial Tablet in St Peter’s Church, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire.
To the memory of Squadron Sergeant 995 Major David McLAREN. D.C.M. 5th Staffordshire Imperial Yeomanry late 2nd Life Guards who served in the Egyptian Campaign 1882 also the South African Campaign 1900 and 1901. Wounded at Tiger’s Kloof January 20th 1901. Died of disease March 21st aged 41 and was buried at Bethlehem South Africa March 22nd 1901.
This tablet was unveiled by Lieutenant Colonel Sir Reginald Hardy, Bart, (Commanding Regiment) is erected by his comrades and friends as a token of their high esteem for his character May 24th 1903
A gratuity was granted to his widow Edith Jane 16 October 1901 revised 2 June 1902.
1891 He was residing with his wife Edith Jane McLaren in married quarter, Hyde Park Barracks. Rank, Troop Corporal Major.
1911 His widow was residing at Milwich, near Stone Staffordshire occupation music teacher.
