Samuel DONALDSON. Rifleman 14401, 14th Royal Irish Rifles. 1894 to Jane Donaldson, of Hillcrest, 82 Woodvale Rd., Belfast, and the late William Donaldson. Killed in action 1 July 1916 aged 22 years. Commemorated in the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
Henry FLYNN. Rifleman 6882, 1st Royal Irish Rifles. Born of the Shankill, Belfast, enlisted at Hollywood County Down. Died of wounds 1 January 1915. At rest in Estaires Communal Cemetery and Extension, France.
Daniel HAGAN. Private 5112, C Coy, 6th Royal Munster Fusiliers. Born 1889 to Frances Hagan. Husband of Mary Davline Hagan, of 38, Grahame Street, Johnstone. Killed action at Gallipoli 15 August 1915 aged 26 years. Commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey, including Gallipoli.

John Alfred HARLAND. Gunner 96467, D Battery, 92nd Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. Born 1896 at Newcastle-on-Tyne to John Thomas and Sarah Annie Harland, of The Grange Cottage, Wingate, Co. Durham. Enlisted at Darlington, Durham killed in action 23 October 1916 aged 20 years. At rest in Guard’s Cemetery, Lesboeufs, Somme, France.
Hubert Victor Edward JONES. 2nd Lieutenant, Royal Irish Rifles. Born 1893 to Mary Jones, of 28, Bedeque Street, Belfast, and the late Hugh Jones. Killed in action 25 October 1918 aged 25 years. At rest in Harlebeke New British Cemetery, Belgium.
Henry McNEICE. Rifleman 13140, 15th Royal Irish Rifles. Born on the Shankill, Belfast killed in action 1 July 1916. His widow Margaret was granted a war gratuity 12 December 1917, revised 8 October 1919. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
Andrew MINNIS. Private 7909, 1st Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Son of William John and Susan Minnis, nee McFerran and brother of William James who also fell. 1901 residing with mother Susan and siblings at 34 Dewey Street, Belfast, Ireland. 1911 serving with the 1st Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers in Hong Kong. Died of wounds 27 July 1916. At rest in Le Cateau Military Cemetery, France.
William James MINNIS. Sergeant 1000909, 16th Canadian Infantry. Born 24 November 1879 to William John and Susan Minnis, nee McFerran and brother of William James who also fell. Husband of Elizabeth, nee Mellin who he married at the Methodist Church Omagh, Ireland 15 May 1908. She was at 4 Belrose Blk !, Winnipeg. 1918 his widow was residing at Suite 20, Verona Apartments, Victor and Wellington Street, Winnipeg. Died of wounds 1 October 1918. At rest in Sancourt British Cemetery, France.

Private 7414, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Born at Shankill, Belfast. His mother Susan and brother Samuel of 89 Dewey Street, Belfast were his next of kin. joined up on the 26 November 1902 at the Inniskilling Fusiliers Depot at Omagh aged 23 years, occupation, clerk. Previously served 1 year in the Imperial Yeomanry. While at the depot he was promoted to Lance Sergeant on the 4 April 1907. Promoted to Sergeant, still at the depot, on the 9 January 1908, posted to the 2nd Battalion. on the 15 On the 23 November 1910 he was transferred to the army reserve as Sergeant
On the 12 August 1914 he was called to the colours as sergeant. Post to France 10 September 1914. Wounded, date not recorded in France and invalided to England on the 23 October 1914 after 44 days in France. Admitted into Lochiel Hospital, Fort William, (Red Cross Auxiliary Hospital) on the 24 October 1914 with a bullet wound of the face and neck, discharged on the 11 November 1914 with the wound not healing. 22 February 1915 promoted to Colour Sergeant with the 4th Battalion. On the 23 November 1915 he was discharged on termination of his first period of engagement. He had fought in the South African Boer War 1901-1901 whilst serving with the Imperial yeomanry.

He was born on the 24 November 1879 in Belfast, Ireland. He resided with his wife Elizabeth at 4 Belrose Blk, Winnipeg. His mother Susan was residing at 11 Mountcashell Street, Belfast. He enlisted aged 36 years on the 7 March 1916 into the Canadian Infantry. Civilian occupation, clerk. He previously served 1year with the Imperial Yeomanry and 13 years with the Royal Inniskilling Dragoons. Embarked from Halifax Canada for Liverpool, England on S.S. Olympic on the 3 December 1916, disembarking at Liverpool 26 December 1916. Posted to the Canadian army stationed at Bramshott Camp, Hampshire with 226th Battalion. On the 7 April 1917 posted to 14th Reserve Battalion, as Acting C.S.M. to Canadian army stationed at Dibgate Camp, Shorncliff. On the 7 August 1918 reverts to Acting Sergeant, the 8th he is posted to France. Promoted to Sergeant in the field 28 August 1918. Killed in action 1 October 1918

Present Condition -
Enlisted with the Imperial, previous to present war in France. Discharged November 15 1915, termination of engagement. Re-enlisted C.E.F. (Canadian Expeditionary Force) March 1916. Has not been to France with the C.E.F. On October 31 1914 got a bullet wound through back of neck, the wound of exit being in lower part of left cheek. Now has small healed scar to left and mid line in back of neck and irregular depressed scar 1 inch long in lower part of left cheek. Left side of face is flattened, when smiles only right-side wrinkles and upper part of left. Left side of tongue paralysed. Evidently involvement of lower branches of 5th and some lower branches of 7th nerves. Stated there has been no improvement in the last year. Is now carrying on as C.S.M. which duty he can perform. However, food collects in left cheek and roof of mouth. Board recommends B.11.

Wesley QUAIL. M.M. Rifleman 17/1750, 21st Entrenching Battalion. formerly 8/9th Royal Irish Rifles. Born 1899 to James and Selina Quail of Belfast, Ireland. Died of wounds 3 April 1918 aged 19 years. At rest in St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France.
Thomas RICE. Acting Sergeant 57697 Royal Engineers. Born 1894 at Shankill, Belfast to James and Mary Jane Rice, of 23, Geoffrey Street, Belfast, Ireland. Died of wounds in France 7 August 1917 aged 23 years. At rest in Hop Store Cemetery, Belgium.

Born 1894 at Crumlin, Belfast to William and Elizabeth Wylie Shaw, of 350, Shankhill Road, Belfast. Ireland. Killed in action in France 8 November 1916 aged 22 years. Enlisted on the 8th May 1915 and posted to Lytham St Annes, Lancashire on the 10th aged 21 years, civilian occupation, commercial traveller. Born at Crumlin, County Antrim, Ireland, gave his residence as care of J.C.Plumpton and Co Ltd, Old Hall Street, Liverpool. His next of kin was his mother Mrs Elizabeth Wylie Shaw of 350 Shankill Road, Belfast. On the 28 April 1916 he embarked from Southampton for France, disembarking the next day at Havre. He was killed in action 8 November 1916. Served a total of 1 year and 185 days. His brother George William Shaw also fought in the war as Lieutenant, 1/5th Manchester Regiment. He survived the war.
R J H SPROULE. It may be the following person. Robert James SPROULE. Corporal 26068, 8th Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Born 1884 to John and Mary Sproule, of Gortin, Aghyaran, Castlederg, County Tyrone. Killed in action 15 July 1916 aged 32 years. At rest in Philosophe British Cemetery, Mazingarbe, France.
Ernest THOMPSON. Private 53079, 2nd Manchester regiment, formerly Royal Army Service Corps. Born 1889 at Shankill, Belfast to Anna Thompson, of 2A, Bedeque Street, Belfast, Ireland. Killed in action 1 October 1918 aged 29 years. At rest in Joncourt East British Cemetery, France.

Cliftonville Road, Belfast, Ireland Died of pneumonia in 6th Stationary Hospital, France 1 January 1919 aged 26 years. At rest in Fillievres British Cemetery, France.

Born 24 April 1894 in Belfast to James Nixon of Glenbrook House, Cliftonville Road, Belfast, occupation, accountant. On the 20 October 1915 at Totonto, Canada he joined the as Private 475507, 11th Reserve Battalion, 4th Overseas University Co, Canadian Expeditionary Force aged 21 years and 4 months. He embarked for England on the 7 December 1915 with the 11 Battalion and taken on strength at Shorncliffe Moore Barracks, near Cheriton, Kent. Whilst at Shorncliffe he was discharged from the army as being appointed an Imperial Commission in the Royal Flying Corps at West Sandling.
