The first English Marines were raised on 28th October 1664 and evolved into the Corps of Royal Marines, which has a proud history of defending the realm in all parts of the globe. The corps was granted the freedom of entry to the Borough of Wirral in 1998.
This plaque is dedicated to those members of the Corps who have given their lives in the defence of their country and fellow Royal Marines
Ones a Marine-always a Marine
