Congreve, Geoffrey Cecil DSO

Commander,(Bart) Royal Navy, on HMS Quebec, fell mortally wounded during a raid on the French coast, 28th July 1941. Son of General Sir Walter Norris Congreve, V.C., K.C.B., M.V.O. and of Lady Cecilia Henrietta Dolores Congreve (nee La Touche), of Chartley, Staffordshire; husband of Lady Helena Madeline Mary Congreve (nee Allhusen), of Chartley. Also served in the 1914-18 war. A.D.C. to G.O.C. in command Egypt and Palestine 1920-21
He won the DSO in action in Norway

Commemorated on a memorial in St Michael church, Penkridge, and Stowe-by-Chartle, both in Staffordshire and also on a memorial at Golders Green Crematorium, Middlesex
