Served at St Helena Island, guarding Boer prisoners under the command of Lt Col S H Earl Bathurst from the 21st April 1900 until 20th June 1901 being relived by 3rd Wiltshire Militia. The battalion left for England on ship Mohawk to Horfield, the Regiments Headquarter

Army number 94865, there was also another number written down first but then a line put through, 24449
(I wonder if this was his 1st Army number!!)

He received a gunshot wound to his right hand. A few fingers missing.

They are both at rest in All Saints Churchyard, Stone, Gloucestershire
