I took this picture during a visit to the Barracks in 2002. The Barracks were occupied by 12th Air Defence Regiment Royal Artillery at the time but my memories of the camp go back to 1983. This was the very first barracks I was posted to and at the time It was occupied by 39 heavy Regiment RA complete with M110 8 inch guns.....Fond memories.
The building you can see just to the right was, in 1983, the NAAFI and I believe it is today. The building (Centre) was REME, not sure what it is now but I am reliably informed that the building to the left which was the Regimental MT Office in 1983 is still the same.
Ha Ha some good remarks on dear old Sennelager, enema, great, i was at Dempsey Barracks REME attatched to 39 Regt Royal Artillery in 1960 -1963 have seen a couple of photos on this site but it dosnt look anything like, was the barracks rebuilt does any one know, love to hear from anyone or see any more recent photos, what a place it was then omg
Was with 1st Bn Sherwood Foresters, 1955 - 1957 ar Dempsey but cannot find any record of the Regiment being stationed there. Are they trying to tell us something !!! Oh yes and as Bette Davis would say "What a dump"
