The BMP-1 (Boevaya Mashina Pekhota) was developed on the late 1960s as a replacement for the BTR-50P. It was seen for the first time in 1967 in a parade in Red Square.
Main armament is the 2A28 73mm short recoil gun. Mounted coaxially to the right of the main gun is a 7.62mm PKT machine gun. Mounted over the main gun is a launch rail for a AT-3 Sagger ATGM. I kown BMP-1 was manufacture in licence in Czechoslovakia, perhaps India. Polish Army have 1321 BMP-1 (called BWP-1) and 38 BWR (Reconesans version BMP-1)
