Sorry guys, just got back into this! The pic above was intended as 1 of 3 to try and show the layout of the base, which takes up a good bit of that side of the loch. I got interrupted before uploading the other 2, but I've now added them to the gallery under the title of 'Faslane Naval Base'.
The base is in a fairly rural area, with the village of Garelochead at the top of the loch. The loch opens out onto the north banks of the Firth of the River Clyde, but the larger town of Helensburgh is only a few miles away and Glasgow not too distant. My home town is on the south side of the Firth. Put it this way, if there's a nuclear strike there, I don't need to worry about it as I'll just be specks of dust before I hear the bang!
Most of the land you see above and about the base is MOD property and a lot is used for training, especially the area behind where I stood to take these.
I don't want to bore you all with any more landscape shots, but I have some more taken at sea level from across the loch. Not great detail in them, but if anyone wants them, contact me and I'll email them to you.
