Only son of Joseph Frederick and Amelia Emily Silvey, of Tivoli House, Stonehouse.
N.B. Medal Card states spelling as STEWART Silvey, all other records show STUART.
At rest at Stonehouse St Cry Churchyard Extension, Gloucestershire.
Amelia Emily Press married Joseph Frederick Silvey in Cheltenham. Their son Stuart Vincent was born in 1894. In census of 1901 Joseph and Amelia were residing at Stour Buildings, Stonehouse. Joseph at that time was an iron moulder and Amelia was a dress maker. Along with them was their son Stuart aged 7 years. In the census of 1911 Joseph, Amelia and Stuart were still residing at the same address. At this time Joseph was an iron moulder in Dudbridge Iron Works and Stuart was an apprentice iron moulder.

My parents in-law have been having a clear and and found an old bible with the name Stuart V Silvey written in the front. Also written was "Prisoner of war, Ismid, Turkey 1917"

Thank you for that. It would appear this is the same person named in the bible. Thanks to the bible we have discovered he was a Prisoner of War. Great to make the connection. I have added a few more details regarding Stuart's parents to the photograph.
I live in Stonehouse and as a Volunteer for the Commonwealth war graves “eyes on hands on project” Stuart’s is one I look after. I have done some research on him but can’t find any Red Cross prisoner record for him. There is local newspaper report referencing being a prisoner.
Do you think it was his actual bible ?
