The mittlere Schützenpanzerwagen (Granatwerfer) (Sd. Kfz. 251/2) was used for the transportation of an 8 cm Granatwerfer 34 (8cm mortar 34) and its crew. Serial production od this variant started in 1941. The mortar could be fired from the vehicle or dismounted. The shown vehicle of a D model belonged to 12. SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend. The photo was made early in 1944.
