The Buffalo mine resistant ambush protected vehicle was developed by the Force Protection Inc. It is a specialized route clearance vehicle, used for route-proving and to dispose discovered mines, IEDs and other explosive hazards. The Buffalo is based on the South African Casspir. It is classed as the Category III MRAP vehicle. Unites States currently operate 200 of these vehicles.
