US Medium Tank T-23 pilot model. The T-23 was a development of the T-20 but with the vertical volute suspension and tracks of the M-4 Sherman and an electric transmission. A 76mm gun was fitted (although options existed for fitting the 75mm and 3-inch models).
The T-23 was not adopted as an M-4 replacement due to poor weight distribution, excessive ground pressure and the electric transmission being regarded as unproven.
