1.16.13 Clifford George GASCOYNE. Son of Caroline Frances (Carrie) and Sergeant George Thomas Gascoyne. and Caroline Frances (Carrie) Gascoyne. 2nd/60th King's Royal Rifle Corps. Born 25th June 1895, baptised 18 July 1895 died 27th July 1895 aged 1 month.

Additional information about his father -
Extracted from what is left of his army record - The record lists Thomas Gascoyne 2380 (1884). He joined up aged 18 years at Southwark on the 10th September 1884. He was serving with the 3rd East Surrey Regiment, his trade was an artisan. His next of kin was his mother, Elizabeth, of 7 Goding Street, Lambeth,Vauxhall, London. Next of kin changed when he got married to Caroline Frances Boxall, spinster, daughter of Harry and Elizabeth Ann , at King's Chapel, Gibraltar 5th April 1894. They had the following children - Phyllis Maud born 21st October 1896, baptised 11th November 1896 at Malta. Clifford George, born and died in Malta, Murial Hope, born 23rd September 1895, baptised 9th October 1895 at Wynberg, Cape Town, South Africa, Doris Vera born 1902 at Rawl Pindi, India and Elean Mabel, born 20th May 1904, baptised 1st July 1904 at Gharial, India. When he joined up he was given army number 2380, this was changed to 12338 on the 22nd February 1889.
He served as follows - United Kingdom from the 10th October 1884 to30 th November 1891. Gibraltar from the 1st December 1891 to 12th January 1895. Malta from the 13th January 1895 to 13th November 1896. United Kingdom from the 14th November 1896 to 17th December 1896. South Africa from the 18th December 1899 to 28th July 1900. Ceylon from the 29th July 1900 to 7th January 1901. India from the 8th January 1901 to 8th February 1902, and finally back to England on the 9th February 1901 to his discharge to pension on the 8th February 1914.
Promotions and re-engagements . Corporal , 22nd February 1889. Lance Sergeant, 24th January 1891. Extended his service to complete 12 years with the Colours on the 29th June 1891. Sergeant, 18th September 1891. Re-engaged to complete 21 service with the Colours on the 27th February 1895. Colour Sergeant on the 5th May 1898. Sergeant instructor on the 9th February 1905 serving with the 10th K.R.R.C. Transferred to the 2nd South Middlesex V.R.C. as Colour Sergeant on the 3rd September 1908. (On the formation of the Territorials in 1908, the 4th Middlesex VRC (Volunteer Rifle Corps) and the 2nd (South) Middlesex VRC were amalgamated to form the 13th (Kensington) Battalion, the London Regiment, Territorial Force Association) . He was discharged to pension on the 8th February 1914 to his home at Stamford Brook Lodge, Ravenscroft Park, West aged 46 years and 6 months having served 29 years and 152 days. He died on the 6th April 1947 at St John's Hospital, Twickenham. He lived at 44, Tower Road, Strawberry Hill, Twickenham. His wife died on the 17th July 1957 at Courtlands Hospital, Worthing.
