Private 50465,Walter CLEGG, 10th Cheshire Regiment killed in action in France April 14th 1918 aged 20 He was the son of Walter and Harriet Jane of 8 Moody Street, Congleton. He is commemorated on his parents memorial in St Peter's extended churchyard, Congleton, Cheshire and also on the Ploegsreert, Memorial, Belgium

He enlisted on the 28th April 1914 as Private 1962, 7th Cheshire Regiment and gave his date of birth as 23rd December 1897 address as 8. Moody Street, Congleton and his mother Harriet Jane as his next of kin.

Private 1962, 7th Cheshire Regiment, Enlisted 28th April 1914, Qualification, Bomber. Embarked Soton, (Southampton) 28th January 1917, disembarked Rouen, 29th January and posted to the 10th Cheshire Regiment with a new number 50465 on the 11th February 1917 and killed in action in France in the field 14th April 1918
