CHEETHAM Arthur Bateman

Engine Room Artificer 2nd Class M/1219 Arthur Bateman CHEETHAM,who lost his life on H. M. Submarine E/36 Royal Navy in the Great War 19th January 1917 aged 31 He was the son of Joseph Edwin and Elizabeth of 29, Clive Street, Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent. Native of Biddulph, Stafffordshire. The loss of HM Submarine E.36 was due to a collision with HM Submarine E.43. He is commemorated on his parents memorial at St Lawrence Churchyard, Biddulph and is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Hampshire
