Son of Henry and Edith Ward, Leys Road, Harvington.

Serving as Private 48239, 11th Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry. His birth name was Sidney Charles Ward. All records found show this order of his Christian names.

He enlisted 3 October 1916 as Sidney Charles Ward aged 17 years and 9 month, occupation, farm labourer and was posted to the army reserve. ( He was 18 on 5 Janaury 1917) He resided at Leys Road, Harvington, Worcestershire. His next of kin was his father Henry Ward of Harvington, Worcestershire.
On 17 March 1917 he was mobilised and posted 95th Training Reserve Battalion.
He died at 8am in Ward S, Chiseldon Military Hospital, Swindon of Broncho pneumonia.

At rest at Harvington St James the Great Churchyard, Worcestershire.
