RICHARDSON Charles, Private 12273, 1st Cheshire Regiment died 16th January 1916 aged 35. He was the son William (who died 1911) and Caroline Peers formerly Richardson of Tatton Street, Knutsford and was the husband of Alice Richardson Lansloot of Dyk Straat, 45, Malines, Belgium. He is commemorated on his parents memorial in Knutsford Cemetery, Cheshire and is at rest in Citadel New Military Cemetery, Fricourt, Somme, France.
Some notes from what remains of his army record. He enlisted on the 28th December 1914 aged 32 and 6 months. He lived at 2, Manchester Road, Knutsford and he was a plumber by trade. He had [reviously served 4 years with the 3rd Volunteer Battalion of the Cheshire Regiment. On the 6th March 1915 he embarked for France, joined the Cheshire Regiment on the 17th March 1915, and was killed in action of 16th January 1916. Not sure if he lived with his wife at 2, Egerton Terrace, Knutsford. He had a daughter called Freda who was born on the 12th April 1915.
