DYER Charles Ernest. Bombardier, 81571, C Battery, 66th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. Died of his wounds, 3rd January 1916, aged 18 years. The son of Ernest and Sarah Jane of Farleigh, Flax Bourton, Bristol. In 1911 he was living with his parents at Lodge Cottage Rock, Old Cleeve, nr Washford, Somerset. Aged 14 he was a grocers errand boy. "The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away."
BRITTON Albert . Private, 8716, 9th Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment. He was admitted to a hospital in Malta suffering from Frostbite, and died 4th January 1916, aged 22 years following an amputation (from exposure) Son of Mrs. Ellen Britton, of 8 Unity Street, St.Philips, Bristol.
SHIRTLIFF Oswald. Private 12485, 8th Battalion, Royal Welch Fusiliers, died of dysentery in Imtarfa Hospital, Malta on the 5th January 1916. Born at Hanworth, Nottinghamshire in 1894 to Arthur and Mary Ellen Shirtliff. In 1911 he was working as a garden boy at Wallingwells Hall, Worksop aged 17. 1911 surname recorded as Shirtcliffe) 1901 recorded as Sutcliffe)
