This memorial is situated at the main entrance to the grounds of the Abbey.

To the glory of God and in proud memory of
James Bertram Faulkner Cartland, Major 1st Worcestershire Regiment who fell in action 27th May 1918 aged 42 at Berry-au-Bac. Husband of Mary Hamilton of Poolbrook, Worcestershire late of Amerie Court, Pershore. Commemorated on the Soissons Memorial, France.

also in memory of his younger son
James Anthony Hamilton Cartland, Captain 58095, 2nd The Lincolnshire Regiment killed in action near Ypres, 29th May 1940 aged 27. He is buried in Zuidschote Churchyard, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, his brother Captain John died the following day .

also in memory of his eldest son
John Ronald Hamilton Cartland, M.P., Major 70394, 53rd Worcestershire Yeomanry, Anti Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery who was killed near Cassell 30th May 1940 aged 33. He was Member of Parliament for Kings Norton Division of Birmingham, 1935-1940. Buried at Hotton War cemetery, Luxembourge, Belgium

They were the sons of Major James Bertram Faulkner Cartland who fell in 1918 and Mary Hamilton of Poolbrooke, Worcestershire. Their sister was Barbara Cartland, authoress
