BURNETT James Gordon Lennox

Burnett James Gordon Lennox. He was Adjutant Vice Captain to the Leicestershire Regiment 25th November 1887. On the 10th February 1897 he was appointed Adjutant Vice Major to the 1st Volunteer Battalion of the Leicestershire Regiment, and expired 17th January 1898.
He served in the Boer War. Sailed out from Southampton on vessel Ottoman 28th February 1900 and returned to Plymouth 18th March 1902 on ship The Nubia. He was the son of William & Mary Rosara, Vicar of Boxgrove Sussex.
He was born in 1857 and was native to the Tangmere, Sussex. He lived at Fort St George, Madras India and died 9th September 1904 at sea off Aden and is laid to rest in Aden
This tablet is situated in Leicester Cathedral and was erected to his memory by all ranks of the battalion which he commanded.
