1914-1918​

BOOTH Harry. Gunner 81213, 11th Seige Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Died of wounds 27 October 1917 aged 21. Son of Frank and Matilda Booth of Balterley, Crewe and native of Moore, Shropshire. Buried at Minty Farm Cemetery Belgium

HOLDSWORTH Frederick William. Lance Corporal 44115, 13th Cheshire Regiment attached to 5th Entrenching Bn, killed in action 20 April 1918 age 34. Son of Joseph and Frances Mary Holdsworth of Wybunbury, Crewe and husband of Ethel Mary Holdsworth of 8 Stalbridge Road, Crewe. Enlisted at Betley, born at Crew, and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium

MOSS Harry. Private 29654, 2/8th Royal Warwickshire Regiment, formerly 40451, South Lancashire Regiment killed in action 3 December 1917. Born at Wrinehill Staffordshire. Son of George Henry and Agnes Moss, nee Brooks, and in 1901 was living with his parents at Brassington Terrace, in the parish of Checkley with Wrinehill. Commemorated on the Cambrai Memorial, Louverval, France

PLATT Alfred. Private 97429, 1st Sherwood Foresters [Notts and Derby Regiment] killed in action 26 March 1918 age 19. Son of Mrs Elizabeth Platt of Balterley, Crewe, and residence in Newcastle Staffordshire. Commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, France

STUBBS George. Private 39911, Prince of Wales 4th North Staffordshire Regiment killed in action 1 October 1918 Born and enlisted at Betley. In 1901 he was a nurse child at the home of Thomas and Ellen Griffiths of Betley aged 2yrs. Buried at Bedford House Cemetery, Belgium
