Henry Bestwick, 25th Works Battalion, Durham Light Infantry transferred as Private 207861, Labour Corps husband of Harriet nee Knight in 1911 was residing with her husband at 89, Station Road, Chesterfield, Derbyshire
Enlisted 19th June 1915 as Private 27531, Sherwood Foresters then at 207 Depot, Labour Company, Northern Command. His date of birth was 19th May 1880 He served in France where on the 26th July 1917 he was admitted to 13, Field Ambulance and the same day transferred to 42nd Casualty Clearing
Station. On the28th July 1917 he was again transferred to 8th General Hospital, Rouen. the 29th July 1917 he was invalided to England and admitted to A Block, Netley and finally on the 1st August 1917 to Dykebar War Hospital, Paisley.
Dykebar Hospital opened in 1909 as the Renfrew District Lunatic Asylum. In 1948 it joined the National Health Service under the Renfrewshire Mental Hospitals Board of Management (renamed the Dykebar and Associated Hospitals Board of Management in 1964). From 1968 to 1974 it was under the Paisley and District Hospitals Board of Management. At the reorganisation of 1974 it passed to the Renfrew District of the new Argyll and Clyde Health Board
He suffered from Generalparalysis of the insane caused not result of but aggravated by ordinary military service. Recommend, Permanent asylum treatment needed
He was discharged, no longer physically fit for war service on the 9th November 1917 at Nottingham and he went home to his family at Lockford Lane, Brimington, Chesterfield, Derbyshire He was the father of six boys. John Henry 10.05.1905, David Knight, 03.04.1907,

He died on the 9th July 1918
Buried in Spital Cemetery, Chesterfield, Derbyshire
