DEERING, Bertram. Private, 7113, 2nd Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, died 1st August 1915 in Malta from wounds received at Gallipoli. He was born at Wendover, Buckinghamshire and enlisted at May Hill. He was born in 1899 to James and Clara who in 1911 were living as a family at Chandos Alley Street, Wendover. His brother, Edward also joined up with the same regiment as Private 7114.

HICKS, Alfred Oxford Poole. Sergeant, PO/10110, Royal Marines Light Infantry, HMS Egmont. Died of enteric fever, 31st July 1915, aged 35 years. The son of the late Thomas and Annie Hicks, of South Farnborough, Hampshire, and the husband of Mabel Hicks. Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.

KENT, Herbert. Private, 1770, 14th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Died of pneumonia, 31st July 1915.
Some notes from his army record He was born at Alexandria, Victoria, Australia and joined up on the 24th December 1914 aged 28 years and ii months. He was married and lived at 63 Eglin Street, Carlton, formerly of 103 Napier Street, Fitzroy, both in Melbourne. He was by occupation a timber hewer at a coalmine. He did his training at Victoria Barracks, Melbourne and after he had completed his training he embarked for Gallipoli on H.M.A.T. A9 Shropshire from Melbourne on the 20th March 1915. While in Gallipoli he fell ill with pneumonia and was sent to Malta on Hospital Ship Neuralia on the 25th July 1915 and he died in Imtarfa Military Hospital, Malta on the 31st July 1915 and he was laid to rest the same day by Rev, E Smith.
