Extended Description
Lance Corporal 26511,Arthur BALL, 10th Cheshire Regiment, killed in France 22 March 1918, 28 son Samuel and Annie of 17, Union Street, Congleton, Cheshire and brother of Albert who also fell. He is commemorated on a family memorial in St Peter's extended churchyard, Congleton, Cheshire, and also on the Arras Memorial, France

He joined up on the 25th May 1915 aged 25 address given was Astbury Marsh, Astbury near Congleton Cheshire. He embarked for France 23rd June 1916 disembarked at Etaples the next day and he joined his regiment 13th Cheshire Regiment in the field on the 1st July 1916 On the 7th July 1916 he was wounded in action, received a gun shot wound to his left arm. He was admitted to the Canadian General Hospital, Boulogne and on the 10th July 1916 was sent to England on Hospital Ship, Janbreydel for treatment. He was declared fit for war service and he embarked for France 27th Janaury 1917 and arrived in France the next day to join the British Expeditionary Force and to join up with his regiment the 1st Cheshire Regiment. On the 24th July 1917 he was promoted to Lance Corporal in the field.
(It get a little disjointed (but it is still for the same person) Notes stated that he joined his regiment from hospital 23rd November 1917. He was posted to the 10th Cheshire Regiment and joined them on the 8th February 1918.)
He was granted leave to the U.K. on the 22nd February 1918 up to the 8th March 1918 and he was killed in action in the field in France on the 22nd March 1918
