To the dear memory of Brevet Major, Arthur William Calvert BOOTH. Eldest son of William and Maria (Eliza) Booth. Born 2nd June 1867. Fell 31st March 1900 at Sanna's Post in command of the Northumberland Fusiliers Company, Mounted Infantry, and while holding with four comardes a position covering retreat of Broadwoods' Brigade on Bloemfontein, South Africa.

1886.
Brevet Major Arthur William Calvert Booth, 1st Northumberland Fusiliers, was killed in action near Bloemfontein Water Works, March 31st, 1900. He was the eldest son of W. Booth, Esq., was born in June, 1867, entered the Northumberland Fusiliers August 1886, being promoted lieut. Feb., 1891, Captain. Jan., 1895, and Brevet-Major July, 1899. He served with the 2nd Northumberland Fusiliers throughout the Hazara campaign of 1888, receiving the medal with clasp. He
took part in the operations on the Niger, 1897-98, when he
was mentioned in despatches, and received the Brevet of
Major and the medal with clasp. He was employed with the West African Frontier Force from Dec, 1897, until February, 1900, then rejoining his battalion in South
