Arthur TARRANT. Private 1237 with the 4th Manchester Regiment aged 17yrs and 11 months. Having joined up on the 5th July 1909. He was living with his parents William and Clara at 35, Savoy Street, off Hyde Road, Manchester.He was discharged to the Special Reserve Manchester Regiment on the 4th July 1909. His annual training was at West Down South. He was born in the parish of St Marks, West Gorton, Manchester and was an apprentice moulder. He married Martha nee Nurtney in 1913. (No record survives for the Great War period.) he may not having been recalled to the colours.
His son William Henry Pioneer 13034265, Pioneer Corps, died on active service 6th July 1945 aged 31. He was the son of Arthur and Martha of Gorton, Manchester. He is at rest in Manchester Southern Cemetery
