His son, General Simcoe Baynes. Colonel of the 35th Royal Sussex Regiment had the memorial re-erected in the locality by permission of his Excellency, Sir Charles Thomas Van Straubenzee. K.C.B. Governor of Malta.
The memorial is situated in an arch on the Upper Barrakka Gardens, Valletta, Malta.

General, Arthur Simcoe BAYNES. Colonel of the 35th Royal Sussex Regiment. Born 1787 in Southampton, Hampshire Died at his country house at Tarxien, Malta 13th September 1875, aged 78 years.
His wife Elizabeth BAYNES. Born 1807 in Ireland, died 20 August 1890, aged 83 years.
She resided and died at 2 Strada St Maria Casal, Tarxien, Malta. The Will was proved 8 October 1890 by George Edward Baynes of Field Place, Horsham in the County of Sussex and Robert Stuart Bayne of Valletta in the said Island. Lieutenan-Generals in Her Majesty’s Army, the nephews the executors.

Colonel of Her Majesty’s 35th Regiment of Foot and General in Her Majesty’s Service who died 13 September 1875 and was proved at the Principal Register (1 February 1876) by Elizabeth Baynes of 11 Strada Mezzodi, Widow the Relict the sole Executrix.
