Arthur RICHARDS, Petty Officer Stoker 303747, Royal Navy Submarine Depot, HMS Egmont. Born 23rd March 1885 at Paignton, Devon, enlisted 2nd April 1903, occupation prior to enlistment, Porter. Died 5th February 1912 aged 28 at Royal Naval Hospital, Malta from self inflicted injuries and shock. Court of Inquiry. The man was under arrest for leave breaking. Broke away from escort and jumped over bastion at Fort St Angelo. His memorial was erected by the Officers and Submarine crews and ships company of HMS Egmont in token of their respect. His mother was informed of his death 6th February 1912. At rest in Plot B Grave 208, Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta.
