DAVIES Arthur Reginald Harry, (CWGC and Army Record have Reg) Corporal 12722, 6th King's Shropshire Light Infantry died 19th July 1917. Son of John and Alice of 66 Mardon, Shrewsbury. He is at rest in Shrewsbury Cemetery, Shropshire.
Some notes from what remains of his army record. He enlisted as Reginald Davies aged 24 years and 6 months and lived in the Parish of St Chad, Shrewsbury. He served in France from the 23rd July 1915 to 5th October 1915. He was promoted to Lance Corporal on the 15th September 1914 and Corporal on the 22nd July 1915. His father, John of 66, Mardon, Shrewsbury was his next of kin. While in France and date not recorded he received a gunshot wound to his back. On the 29th June 1916 he was discharged, no longer physically fit for war service, Para 392 (XVI) King's Regulations. On his memorial in Shrewsbury Cemetery is inscribed "Wounded in the battle of Loos September 25th 1915 and died 16th July 1917 aged 27." (Wills and Admin, Ancestry.co.uk have the same date of death)
