Born 18 November 1896 at Bridgnorth, Shropshire to William Luff and Mary Ann Hanlon. 1901 residing with his parents and siblings at 22 Bernards Hill, Bridgnorth. 1911 with his parents and siblings at 45 Cartway, Bridgenorth, occupation, bakers assistant.
Husband of Lilian Gertrude Hanlon, nee Jeffery of High Street Tewkesbury who he married 13 January 1915 at st Georges Church, Kidderminster.
1939 to death residence was 112 High Street, Tewkesbury. 1939 occupation, Heavy worker in a baker and confectioner bakery.
Died in Tewkesbury Hospital, Tewkesbury 19 November 1942 aged 47

Resided at 112 High Street, Tewkesbury. In place and date stated. Effects went to his widow and Lilian Beatrice Mary Hart wife of William Hart £2397 11s. 4d.

Enlisted 8 December 1915 aged 21, occupation, Baker into the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and posted to Army Reserve. He was residing with his wife and daughter Lilian Beatrice at 231 Witton Road, Aston, Birmingham. Called to the colours 24 November 1916 and posted as Private 23184 to Royal Warwickshire Depot. 28 November 1916 he was posted to the 3rd Battalion.
25 February 1917 on transferred list to the Machine Gun Corps (Heavy) 21 Coy. 3 May 1917 posted the Machine Gun Corps as Private 115020. 9 January 1918 with 17th Light Battery, Tank Corps
29 May 1918 transferred as Gunner 95295 Tank Corps Depot.
14 August 1918 embarked Folkestone for France disembarked at Boulogne the same day. Joined his unit in the field 11 September 1918. 21 May 1919 he was posted to 4th Battalion, Rhine Army. He was discharged from the army under King’s Regulation 392(xxviii).
