ARCHIBALD BOYD (ARCHIE) MacDONALD. Band Sergeant 6923, 2nd King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry.
Born 1883. Killed 28 October 1914 aged 33 (Headstone states 31). (D.C.M: South African War (Boer War), 1900). (Clasp to D.C.M.,1914). Mentioned in Despatches: (South African War). Medaille Militaire (France).
His sister Annie was granted a war gratuity on the 21 June 1915. His brothers Edmund, Hugh and Alexander were granted a war gratuity on the 6 August 1915.

Commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.

WILLIAM GORDON (WILLIE) MacDONALD. Lance Sergeant 7281, 2nd King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry.
Born 1889 at Tirumalagiri, (Trimulgherry) India. Enlisted 17 November 1902. Died at Le Touret, France 29 October 1914 aged 24. His mother was granted a war gratuity 21 June 1915 revised 21 June 1919

At rest in Beuvry Communal Cemetery Extension, Pas de Calais, France

Inscribed on the headstone is the following -
“Who were killed in action near Bethune France 28 October 1914.”

Sons of Samuel and Eliza MacDonald, nee Boyd. 1891 both sons were residing with their parents and siblings at Halfpenny Lane, Tanshelf, Yorkshire. 1901 only William and his siblings were with their parents at 7 Broadoak Road, Hurst, Lancashire. 1911 neither of them was with their parents at 10 Grenville Street, Dukinfield, Lancashire. There mother’s occupation on the 1891 census was an army schoolmistress, 1901 shows her as a school mistress. Last known address for their mother was 10, Napoleon Road, St. Margaret's, Twickenham. Their father died in December 1914.

Commemorated on their father’s headstone in Southern Cemetery, Manchester, Lancashire.
