Private 41427 Andrew PEPPER, 9th Royal Irish Fusiliers killed 12th August 1918 aged 34. He was the son of James and Mary of 21, Greenville Terrace, Bloomfield, Belfast. He is commemorated on his parents memorial at Dundonald Cemetery, County Down, Northern Ireland, also commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium.
Some notes from what remains of his army record,
He joined up at Antrim and was posted as private 1797 North Irish Horse all on the same day, 6th November 1915. He was aged 30 years and 150 days lived at Kilpike, Banbridge, County Down and was by trade an upholsterer. The 29th June 1916 he was posted to his unit in France. On the 20th September 1917 he transferred to the 9th Royal Irish Fusiliers and he was killed between the 11th and 12th August 1918 in France. ( Just for information. He was recorded as being killed in France. After the war, burial sites with few graves, the soldiers were exhumed and placed in a cemetery not far from where he was originally laid to rest. In this case he was interred in Belgium.)
