TURNER Alfred DSM . Chief Petty Officer, 163870 Royal Navy on HMS Heliotrope. Born 5 January 1876 at London, enlisted 22 November 1891 on HMS Impregnable, occupation prior to enlistment labourer. Husband of Mrs. Beatrice Lily Turner, nee Bishop of 37 Curtiss Terrace, Landport, Portsmouth and of 67 Northam Street, Portsmouth. He was previously married to Mary Agnes Nee Tierney from Galway who died 22 December 1907 aged 27. Awarded the D.S.M. in connection with operations on the Enfhrales scene July 1915. In 1911 now a widower, was stationed at the Royal Naval Gunnery School Whale Island Portsmouth aged 35. Died 12th October 1916 aged 40 years a hospital in Malta of mental melancholia, attempted suicideLondon Gazette dated 19 November 1915.

At rest in Plot C Grave 329 Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta.
