Alexander BOYLE. Private 6769, 20th Australian Imperial Force
Born 26 August 1888 at Kilbright, Carrowdore County Down to Robert and Agnes Jane Boyle, nee Hamilton. Irish 1901 census with his parents and siblings ay 5 Kilbright, County Down. 1911 his parents and siblings were residing at 8 Kilbright. He was not at home when the census was taken.
Notes from his service records
Joined the Australian Imperial Force at Victoria Barrack, Victoria Australia aged 29 years and 8 months 5 April 1917, occupation telephone mechanic. Embarked Melbourne on HMAT A29 Suevic 26 June 1917 disembarking Liverpool 26 August 1917. Transferred to Australian Camp 5th Training Battalion at Rollestone, Sailsbury Plain, Wiltshire. Embarked for France from Folkestone 29 April 1917 and marched to New Zealand Infantry and General Base Depot at Étaples. (N.Z.I.G.B.D) 4 May marched to his unit, 5th joined the 20th in the field. Killed in action 11 August 1918. Laid to rest at Lamotte-en-Santerre B2988 four and threequarters of a miles from South East of Corbie, Somme.
At rest in Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery France.
