LITTLE Abel Haywood. Private, 7758, 13th Manchester Regiment. Died of dysentery on the29th September 1916 at St George's Military Hospital, Malta, contracted at Salonika. His widow Margaret was granted a war gratuity on the 20th December 1916, revised on the 8th September 1919 now called Margaret Tomlinson. He was the son of Charles and Elizabeth Little.

He joined up on at Manchester on the 19th September 1914 aged 32 and 4 months and was posted to the Manchester Regiment Depot. Occupation an electrical engineer. Born at Miles Platting, Manchester, lived with his wife Margaret and adopted son at 7 Artkin Street, Bradford Road, Birmingham. He married Miss Margaret Clara on the 1st August 1903 at All Souls church, Manchester, both were aged 21, Abel lived at 141 and she lived at 145 Pollard Street, Manchester. After he had completed his training he embarked Folkestone on the 6th September 1915 disembarked the following day at Boulogne, he was in transit. On the 29th October 1915 he embarked Marseilles and disembarked at Salonika on the 6th November 1915. On the 13th September 1916 he was admitted into 29th General Hospital, Salonika with dysentery Later he was invalided to Malta on a hospital ship at Salonika. 25th September 1916 he was admitted into St George's Hospital, Malta, where he died from dysentery on the 29th September 1916. In 1919 his widow had remarried to a Tomlinson living at 4 Moor Street, Blackburn with their adopted son Ernest Gardner, born 2nd September 1907 at Didsbury, Manchester. Previous address found was 23 Gleddon Street, Manchester.

WOODFORD Fred Lionel. Private, M2/181943, 244th Mechanical Transport Coy., Royal Army Service Corps. Died of enteric fever, 2nd October 1916, aged 28 years at St George's Hospital, Malta. Son of Fred and Elizabeth Woodford, of Stone, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. The husband of Alice Mary Woodford, of St. Marys Street, Boston Spa, Yorkshire. (Wills and Admin, Ancestry) Fred Lionel Woodford of Poplars, Stone, Buckinghamshire, private , motor transport, Army Service Corps died 2nd October 1916 at St George's Hospital, Malta. Effects went Alice Mary his widow.
